Dear Parents,
Each year at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, students undergo the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) at the beginning of first year. This assessment is designed to help teachers to understand how students learn and what their academic potential might be. Our current first years will be taking the CAT4 test on either Monday or Tuesday of next week as follows:
Monday 18th Sept 2023:
Class 1 & 2 - Forms 1A & 1B
Class 3 & 4 - Forms 1C & 1D
Class 5 & 6 - Forms 1E & 1F
Tuesday 19th Sept 2022:
Class 1 & 2 - Forms 1G & 1H
Class 4 & 5 - Form 1i
I have spoken to the students and explained that this test will allow us to collect data to help us to understand how they learn best. I have highlighted that they are not to stress about it. It is important that your child attends. I have asked them to ensure they have the following with them for the CAT4 testing:
- Their laptops are fully charged the night before (if a student has not received their computer yet, I will have spare ones here for them on the day)
- Headphones (if they have bluetooth earphones that they make sure that they have tried to connect them to their laptops over the weekend).
