08-November-20

Details of all upcoming events are on the November Online Noticeboard here: https://sway.office.com/sA1xxRO4NNzPGRt7?ref=Link

You will notice that the major focus points this month are listed below here again. We appreciate your support in these especially in ensuring students wear a complete uniform each day except PE days.

The Online Noticeboard is updated daily and you can see there are loads of opt in events which I would appreciate if you could encourage your student to sign up for some/all/any of them – even if they don’t sound like their cup of tea – only by trying out lots of things do they find their passion in life! In particular I think the below opportunities are really great.

  • Microsoft Dreamspace event Nov 12th
  • GAA Coaching course (now fully booked)
  • Architecture course
  • Art competition in school

All sign ups and further details are found at the link above.

You can see there are a number of great workshops happening over the next few weeks as well for all students

  • Dancing (not everyone’s cup of tea I know, but great craic for them all to be at something silly – and it will be social distanced)
  • Chinese Language
  • Self Esteem Building

Please can you get your student to register for GAISCE if they haven’t already. This needs to be done and paid for at home. All details are on the last update and also at the link above.

In terms of school work, week 10’s are happening in classes for English, Irish, Maths and the foreign language over the next 2 weeks. It is important that students make a big effort to consolidate the work covered to date and get their best result in that exam which will be reported on VSWARE.

Students have just rotated out of their first modules and into new ones this week. These will last for another 8 weeks until Christmas. Have a look at their timetables on VSWARE if you want to see what they are now studying – lots of interesting projects on the go in each class.

Lastly, attendance should be easier than ever to keep track of now that parents are using the VSWARE app. Can you check your student’ absences on that please and update the reason/code so we have accurate records of when/where the student was present/not. This is more important than ever this year should contact tracing be required at any stage.

Things are going better than I hoped in terms of activities we can do in school. Unfortunately we are restricted of course with trips and out of school fun. However, I think you will agree there is a good variety on the school programme and if the students really OPT IN, they will have a great and varied experience.

Wishing us all safe passage through this lockdown and beyond,

Thanks for your continued support;

Kind regards,

Eleanor Nolan
