A Wealth of Enriching Opportunities
We provide an extensive programme of co and extra-curricular activities through which students extend their learning, build teamwork skills and develop friendships. We want students to aspire to be the best in every aspect of school life, tackling fresh challenges and taking pride in their achievements.
Students participate in abroad range of after school and lunchtime activities as well as homework and revision clubs. We have a packed programme of inter-college and inter school competitions with many of our sports teams, music groups, Young Scientists and debaters to name but a few, achieving regional and national success.
Students can make use of our recently built fitness suite, school gym, Astro Turf and playing field as well as additional facilities in the nearby community centre. It is also hoped in the coming years to develop further playing fields and Athletics facilities on the nearby lands.
The many opportunities for students to showcase their talents include school concerts, school musical, our 100+ member choir, lunchtime concerts, school radio and school newspaper “The Claregalway Chronicles”, the Model United Nations and debating teams.
Our many sports include football, camogie, hurling, soccer, basketball, badminton, table tennis, rugby, Athletics, Golf and Equestrian events.
There are also numerous lunchtime activities for all students including Games club, lunchtime running for staff and student, reading group in the library, green schools, science club, radio club and open mic Fridays.
Students enjoy a host of educational day trips and overnight stays in Ireland and abroad, these include the TY Camino trip, language exchanges, cinema trips, history tours, geography trips, farm visits, adventure centre trips to Petersburg and Killary.
Students raise considerable sums of money each year for a range of charities and engage with the local community through events such visits to the local day care centre, Tidy Towns, Christmas Carol Service.
